A vibrant fusion of jazz, choral music, and swing, Duke Ellington’s Sacred Concert is a unique and uplifting work.
Describing it as "the most important thing I have ever done," Ellington combined gospel, blues, and classical influences to create a work that is both joyful and deeply moving.
Ellington toured three Sacred Concerts over the years 1965-1974. Originally written for his own jazz orchestra, soloists, and choir, the piece was subsequently adapted for performance by soloists, choir and jazz band.
