We are very excited to welcome you to this event where the artist Chinwe Russell will present her new collection: The Tribes of Africa. The Nigerian-born British artist will talk about the inspiration behind the collection, the cultures and traditions of her people as well as her journey as an artist.
Chinwe Russell is a Nigerian-born British artist, curator, and art advisor with nearly 30 years of
professional experience across different industries and geographies. In addition to developing her own thriving
art practice, Chinwe has brought her passion, energy, and creativity to bear on re-energizing the visual
arts sector in her adopted town of Doncaster.
Identified as a “Raw Talent” by the Yorkshire-based Arts& organisation, she was invited to exhibit in
their 2018 exhibition in York. She has been a finalist at the Global Arts Awards, was selected for the
Other Art Fair’s “Not 30% Project” and her work has been featured in a collection by Saatchi art
online as well as exhibited at Shanghai International art fair.
Her work was selected for exhibition at the prestigious Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition in
2019 and 2021.
Chinwe Russell is the originator of the D31 art gallery Project as well as several other art projects in Doncaster and beyond.
