Upcoming eventsIn 2023 Boy on a Dolphin celebrate the 30 year anniversary of the release of their first album ‘Words Inside’ and they are delighted to include Doncaster Little Theatre in their schedule. This will be the first time the band have played there, although frontman John Reilly has performed at the venue many times and lists it as one of his favourites.
If you’ve seen ‘Boy on a Dolphin’ before, you’ll know you can expect an evening of totally original live music, based around John Reilly’s outstanding vocals and the amazing Spanish guitar grooves of Pete Hiley.
If you haven’t seen them before – how do you describe BOY ON A DOLPHIN? Ok, that’s not easy, acoustic based –yes. African rhythms – yes. Melodic, er definitely. Warm, moving, intimate, personal, yes personal! They have an uncanny way of making you feel that a song is directed at you personally. You could ask any of their 1000’s of fans who have filled Sheffield City Hall what they think, but our advice would be to switch off your phone, sit in a dark room and listen to the track TRAPEZE from their album BARKERS POOL to THUNDER BAY. You will leave the room deeply moved and aware in your own mind of whom and what BOY ON A DOLPHIN are.
The original four band members, John Reilly, Andy Needham, Pete Hiley and Darren Ford will be joined by new member Anthony Lomas, so expect a surprise or two, but of course they will be playing all of their greatest songs, including ‘Words Inside, ‘Walking Home, ‘Trapeze’, ‘Life’s a Blast’ and of course ‘Fire’ …
