The Glasshouse

The Glasshouse
  • Venue/Location:Cast
  • Date: 3 Nov 23

The Glasshouse represents an interactive light and sound installation that beckons you to engage with it.

Step into a world where art meets technology, where light dances to the rhythm of sound, and where the atmosphere changes with every move you make. The Glasshouse is an interactive, solar-powered sculpture, which responds to your movement and sound with a mesmerising symphony of colour and music.

This is a digital commission from Doncaster artist Wayne Sables. In celebration of Cast’s tenth birthday year, the installation will illuminate Sir Nigel Gresley Square. The Glasshouse is a free event where audiences gather to admire the piece, interacting as much or as little as they like.

As the audience interact with the sculpture, it dynamically recomposes itself depending on their proximity, creating a unique experience every time, responding to surrounding sound, merging its environment with a composed piece by Nicholas Lewis. The Glasshouse serves as a manifestation of the interplay between sculpture, light, and sound.
